Three Ohio Business Owners Fined for Skill GamesThree Ohio Businesses were raided in January and now the owners have been fined for owning a skill gaming business. The owners of Hit It Big, VIP Internet Café and Golden Penny have all been cited for failure to obtain a game room license which is a minor misdemeanor.
Each business owner received a $100 fine and no jail time. The owners agreed to forfeit the money that was seized and not to reopen their businesses. Almost $10,000 was seized from the first two businesses and over $26,000 was seized from the Golden Penny.
Back in January the police department raided the businesses and then removed computer equipment, gaming machines, documents and the cash. The raids took place after undercover investigators from the Ohio Attorney General’s Office reportedly were paid cash prizes from gambling machines at the businesses.
It is believed that one owner of one of the businesses zeroed out totals on the central computer that tabulates the skill game winnings. This owner, of Chances Are, was charged with tampering with evidence, a third degree felony, and prohibited conduct while operating a skill based amusement machine, a first degree misdemeanor. The owner pled not guilty.
