Student Wins School Snooker Title, Now Moving Toward Nationals
Lalit Dahiya entered the Delhi Schools Snooker Tournament and did so well that he won the event and was picked to receive a special training session. Dahiya will be subject to a weeklong special training session with Subhash Agarwai, a national coach, in Mumbai next week. (30/06)
Backgammon Tournaments held in Riga
The Association for Development of Sports in Latvia organized the first ever long and short backgammon tournament to take place in Riga. A total of forty people competed in the first competition which lasted well into the night. (29/06)
Taylor Road Productions announces New Dates for Women’s 9-Ball Open Event
The Women’s 9-Ball Open event has been changed due to conflicting schedules with the Women’s Professional Billiard Association tournament. Taylor Road Productions recently announced the new dates for the 9-Ball Open event. The new dates are September 11th through the 15th. (26/06)

Tredegar Snooker Tournament to air on Cuesport TV
The annual Tredegar Constitutional Club Pro-Am Snooker tournament will begin to air on the Cuesport TV channel on WebTV this Thursday and will continue to air every Thursday until a one week break on the 23rd of July. The final will be played on August 13th. (23/06)

The American Backgammon Tour’s US Open recently took place on June 4th through the 7th in Washington D.C. Twenty four players competed in the event and it was Carol Joy Cole who managed to outlast the field and take down the win. (18/06)

Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center Raises $1,100 during Charity Backgammon Tournament
The Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center in Bellingham held their first ever Compete for a Cause Backgammon tournament on May 30th to raise money for the center. The backgammon tournament was able to raise $1,100 in funds which will help the center educate and train people in peaceful conflict resolution. (15/06)

Long time pool pros, Johnny Archer and Allison Fisher have been elected to be inducted into the Billiard Congress of America (BCA) Hall of Fame. Voting was conducted by the United States Billiard Media Association and both Archer and Fisher were voted to be inducted. (09/06)

Tainan Judge Let Go for Playing Mahjong
Tainan Branch Judge of the Taiwan High Prosecutors office, Hsu Hong-chi, has been let go from his judging duties for playing the game of mahjong. Hsu was let go because he chose to rule the former Tainan county Council speaker Chou Wu-liu innocent in a vote-buying lawsuit back in 2001. The problem was that Hsu and Chou played mahjong together. Sixty players registered to compete in the event and New York’s best amateur players showed up to participate.
