Alastair MacBeath Wins 4th High Stakes Backgammon TournamentThe 4th High Stakes Backgammon Tournament took place at Strawberry Hills in Jamaica this past weekend and it was Alastair MacBeath who outlasted the field and took the $315,000 first place prize. It was tough competition and MacBeath had to get past William Mahfood before he could claim the victory. (29/04)
World Snooker Championship to Stay in Sheffield
It was recently announced that an agreement was made between World Snooker, Sheffield City Council and the Yorkshire Tourist Board to continue the World Snooker Championship in the city of Sheffield. Many were unsure where the event would move to and many did not want to see it move as the Championship has a long history in Sheffield. (28/04)
Tim Volkman Wins Varsity Club 8-Ball Event
Last weekend the Varsity Club hosted a $1,000 added 8-ball event which saw an amazing turnout of seventy eight players. The Varsity Club is located in Oshkosh, Wisconsin and it would be Tim Volkman who took down the first place prize. (28/04)
Backgammon Tournament to be hosted by Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center
A backgammon tournament will be held at the Boundary Bay Brewery beer garden in Bellingham, Washington to raise money for the Whatcom Dispute Resolution Center. This is the first time the center has hosted a backgammon tournament and the name of the event is Compete for a Cause. (27/04)

Yesterday kicked off the beginning of the Legends and Champions Pool Tour on the West Coast of the United States. The tour began in the San Diego area and will travel the West Coast ending the tour in Tacoma, Washington. (23/04)

Ding Beats Liang in First Round of World Championship of Snooker

Danny Cintron Wins Yet another Tri-State Tour Stop
Danny Cintron is no stranger to the Tri-State Tour billiard tournaments. This past weekend, Cintron secured his fifth victory on the tour in Edison, New Jersey. The stop took place at Sandcastle Billiards and thirty players registered to compete in the $500 added A-D handicapped event. (20/04)
APA National Championships to be sponsored by PoolDawg
It was recently announced that online based billiard retailer PoolDawg will be the official sponsor of the American Poolplayers Association (APA) events. The two came to an agreement which will see PoolDawg as the official table spot sponsor of the National Singles and Team Championships for the APA. (17/04)
PSN Adds Extra Content for Mahjong Tales: Ancient Wisdom
The PlayStation Network is a great way for players to enjoy games as well as add extra content to games they already own. The Network allows players to download content to their existing games to create a better playing experience. The PSN recently announced the addition of extra downloadable content for three games, including in those games is Mahjong Tales: Ancient Wisdom. (15/04)
Terry Miller Wins Pechauer All American Tour Title
The Las Vegas Cue Club hosted the forty fourth stop on the Pechauer All American Tour this past Saturday. The event was a $500 added tournament and twenty three players competed in the double elimination 8ball format tournament. (14/04)
New Format to Debut at Snooker World Championships Later This Month
Hoping to follow in the success of Twenty20 for cricket, snooker officials have changed the format of the game for the upcoming snooker World Championships. The new format is called “Super6s” and will feature the same number of colors per frame but will only have six reds. This move was to replicate the move by cricket officials which saw success for the sport. (14/04)
First Time Tournament Player Wins Backgammon Event
For most people, the first time they enter a gaming tournament they do well but most often do now win. That was not the case for Shoshanna Lall a few weeks ago. The Trinidad Backgammon Club held a backgammon tournament on March 31st at the Sweet Lime Restaurant in Woodbrook and Lall competed in her first ever tournament. She managed to outlast the field and take the win on her first try. (14/04)
High Stakes Backgammon Tournament Set for End of April
April 24th through the 26th is the dates for the fourth High Stakes Backgammon Tournament which will take place in the town of St Andrew. The Strawberry Hill Hotel and Spa near Kingston, Jamaica will host the event. (09/04)
Mahjong 2.3 Released by In-Poculis for Mac Players
Mac players will be delighted to know that In-Poculis has announced the release of a new Mahjong version that is compatible with Mac OS X 10.4 or greater and it is also donationware. The new version is a 3D variation of classic Mahjong. (08/04)
Monica Webb Wins WPBA San Diego Classic
The Women’s Professional Billiard Tour San Diego Classic took place this past week with stiff competition. After all the competitors had been knocked out it was down to Monica Webb and Ga Young Kim. Webb would prove her talent and take the win, making it her second WPBA title for 2009. (07/04)
Betfred to Sponsor World Snooker Championships
Betfred, the United Kingdom land and online gambling group, recently announced they will become the latest sponsor for the World Snooker Championship. The 888 gambling group used to be the sponsor for the event until their deal ran out after last year’s tournament. (07/04)
Social Organizations in Malaysia denied Mahjong Permit Renewals
Mahjong is an extremely popular game in the Asian community as well as internationally. It is an ancient game and an integral part in many Asian’s lives. The China Press recently reported that many social organizations in Kulim, Malaysia are being denied renewal of their mahjong permits. This of course would mean they would not be allowed to play the game they love. (06/04)

One of the most recognized billiard players in the United States has signed with the Tiger Products Team. Samm “Cherry Bomb” Diep is the most recent member of the Tiger Products Team. Diep will be in company with other players such as Mazin Shooni, Neil Fujiwara and Shawn Putnam. (03/04)

RummyRoyal has become a rising star online and now the rummy room has decided to go offline and host a land tournament. The special tournament will begin on April 20th in London, England. RummyRoyal will be sponsoring the LTDKA Kalooki event, which takes place monthly. (02/04)
Mahjong Winner Swallows Tooth in Excitement
A man with the surname of Li was playing mahjong with friends when he won the game. He got so excited that he began laughing really hard. Well, Li’s laughing caused a metal false tooth to come lose and he swallowed it. (02/04)
