Yankees Baseball Team Enjoy a Billiards Break
Yankee players received a surprise on Monday when they showed up to team practice. Instead of beginning their usual workout, team manager Joe Girardi took the players to a local pool hall to enjoy a few games. Welsh Open Champion of Snooker is Ali Carter
This past Sunday Ali Carter defeated Joe Swail 9-5 during the finals of the Welsh Open. With the win, Carter became the new Welsh Open Champion. This is the first ranking title for Carter who has been a snooker player for some time now. (24/02)
American Billiards Players Win Back Guinness World Record
In the Guinness Book of World Records there is a title of Longest Marathon Billiards Match that is held by players in Europe. Well not anymore, as two American players recently played a match and beat the record held the the European players. (20/02)
Alex Higgins Dropped From Charity Event
Alex HIggins was supposed to attend a charity event in Limerick in March but has been dropped from the schedule. This comes after recent reports of Higgins threatening and verbally abusing spectators and a referee at separate events. (20/02)

Knoxville, Tennessee will be the backdrop for the March 2009 Spades Connection Event. The spades event will begin on March 12th and will continue till the 15th. Mahjong Player Suffers From Face Paralysis
Over the years many wild and crazy stories have surfaced about players who have suffered illness or death due to long sessions of playing Mahjong. The game is so popular in many parts of the world that marathon gaming sessions take place for twenty four hours or more. Just a few months ago a man died from playing Mahjong for a long period of time. Most recently a man from Shenzhen suffered facial paralysis after playing the game all night long. (13/02)
