Dennis Hatch Wins Joss Tour for Third Consecutive Time

The Joss Northeast 9-Ball Tour took place this past weekend at Snooker’s Pool Lounge in Providence, Rhode Island and Dennis “The Hatchetman” Hatch won the event for the third year in a row. With the win, Hatch’s name was added to a banner that displays at the location for becoming the 20th Ocean State 9-Ball Champion. (25/11)

Man Loses Life after betting it to Backgammon Game

Sergei Smirnitsky is a citizen of Moscow and was recently arrested on murder charges after he attempted to get a neighbor to help him remove a body from his flat. The neighbor called the police and Smirnitsky was arrested for killing Vasily Lobozov after Lobozov offered his life if he lost a game of backgammon. (24/11)

Adam Kielar Wins Maryland State Billiards Title

This past Saturday the 2008 Maryland State Open 8 Ball Championships kicked off at All-Star Billiards in Frederick, Maryland. Professional Billiards players along with top amateur players could compete falling in line with BCA rules. Fifty five players entered the Championships and Adam Kielar of Pennsylvania outlasted them all and won first prize. (21/11)

The Hamilton Hotel in Seoul, South Korea is playing host to the Dragon Promotions fifth annual XTM Asia 10-Ball Championships. The event has begun and players from around the world are participating. Ryan Day Knocked Out of Bahrain Championship

Hippo’s House of Billiards was the host for a stop on the Joss Northeast 9 Ball Tour. The event took place on November 8th and 9th and was a $1,500 added event. In the future the event will be called the Al Conte Memorial. Al Conte was a table installer for over 30 years and he passed away on October 20th. Conte’s son, Victor Conte is the owner of Hippo’s House of Billiards. (10/11)

WPBA Tour Championships to be aired on Pay-Per-View

It was recently announced by the Women’s Professional Billiard Association that the 2008 WPBA Tour Championships will have select matches available on Pay-Per-View on the WPBA website. The selected matches will take place on the 13th and 14th of November. (06/11)

2008 Bodrum Open Championship Results

October 10th-12th was the dates for the Bodrum Open Championship, a major backgammon tournament of the WBF Turkey. The event was held at the Delfi Hotel in Bodrum, Turkey. This is the fifth leg of the tour and the Main Event is Double Elimination Play. (05/11)

Snooker Players Tested For Drugs Out of Season

It was recently confirmed by UK Sport that Snooker players have been tested for drugs during the off season. This is the first time snooker players have been tested when they are not in a snooker season. UK Sport conducted five tests between the months of July and September of 2008. (04/11)

The Northeast/New England area of the United States can look forward to a new amateur 10-Ball tour starting in 2009. Kevin Vidal from the 14and1 website has teamed up with William Dominiak of the DominiakCues website to create the new tour. (04/11)

Mahjong Time Partners with Phantom Fiber Corporation

Phantom Fiber Corporation is a Canadian wireless technology supplier and most recently the company has partnered with Mahjong Time. Phantom signed a multi-year contract with Mahjong Time where mobile telephone handsets will be equipped with mahjong games. (03/11)
