Sal Lanuto Wins Tri-State Tour New Jersey

Thirty players came out to play in the Tri-State Tour stop in Edison, New Jersey. The tournament was held at Sandcastle Billiards on September 27th and Sal Lanuto was able to stay undefeated in the tournament and win first place. (30/09)

World Snooker and Betfair Sign Memorandum of Understanding

It was reported today that Betfair has signed an agreement called a Memorandum of Understanding with World Snooker. This agreement states that Betfair will share information on unusual wagering activity in the billiards and snooker industry. World Snooker is the commercial side of the World Professional Billiards and Snooker Association. (30/09)

Ho Kwok-Hung Wins World Series of Mahjong

The final stage of game play for the 2008 World Series of Mahjong took place on Friday with thirty two players vying for the top spot. The Series started out with 302 players from fifteen different countries competing to be crowned the champion of Mahjong. But there could only be one winner and that person is Ho Kwok-Hung from Hong Kong. (29/09)

Guy Iannuzzi Wins Tri-State Tour Stop in New Jersey

This past Saturday, Comet Billiards in Parsippany, New Jersey hosted the B-C-D-handicapped, $500 added event. The event was a stop on the Tri-State Tour and twenty five players showed up to participate. Guy Iannuzzi managed to go undefeated in tournament and win the event. (25/09)

Jadestone, a Swedish online game developer, has just announced they have added three new distribution partners to their GamArena. Because of this addition Jadestone’s skill games network is growing rapidly. The new partners to the company are: Ekstrabladet, Nordic Gaming Group and ToucanWIN. Riviera Hotel and Casino to Host Backgammon Tournament

Backgammon enthusiasts can now get excited as the Riviera Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada will be hosting The Las Vegas Open Backgammon Tournament this November. The tournament will begin on the 12th and continue until the 16th. The tournament will feature side events along with the main tournament. BAE Lightning Leads Premier Division of A2Z-sponsored Preston and District Snooker League

Elite A hosted the Premier Division of the A2Z sponsored Preston and District Snooker League event but were beaten by the BAE Lightning 5-2. The BAE might not have the lead for long as Riley Red is right behind them. The Reds beat St Wilfrid’s with the same 5-2 score. (23/09)

Heather Lloyd Wins Fast Eddie’s Billiards Event

This past weekend Fast Eddie’s Billiards in San Antonio, Texas hosted two events for the Fast Eddie’s Odhausen 9 Ball Tour. One of those events was a women’s division $350 added which had thirty participants. Of those thirty women, Heather Lloyd remained and earned the first place prize. (22/09)

Jimmy White Wins Times & Citizen Legends of Snooker Challenge

The Times and Citizen Legends of Snooker challenge took place last night at Bedford Corn Exchange. Jimmy White managed to come from 3-1 behind to beat Steve Davis for the win. Davis was ranked 29 in the world while White was ranked 62. (19/09)

Naomi Williams Wins WBPA Qualifier

The Dakota Sports Club in Barrie, Ontario held a Tiger Canadian Women’s Pool Tour event on September 6th and 7th with a $1,000 added prize purse. The winner also would receive a qualifier to the WPBA. Naomi Williams was able to outlast the field of competitive women and take the prize as well as the WPBA qualifier. (18/09)

World Series of Mahjong Set to Have Large Turnout

The World Series of Mahjong is set to begin on September 19th and the event has already had more than three hundred players sign up to participate. The tournament will be held at the Wynn Resort and players are flying in from all over the world including: Taiwan, Hong Kong, United Kingdom, Denmark, Australia, Canada, Brazil, Chili, Singapore, Portugal and the United States. Crime Forces Snooker Clubs to Close Early

Snooker clubs in Lahore, Punjab are being forced by police to shut down by 9pm on a daily basis. The police believe this may help control the robberies in the city, as they have been rapidly increasing. The Snooker Clubs Association announced the curfew this past Thursday. (15/09)

Man Attacked With Snooker Cue

This past Monday night an eighteen year old man was attacked outside a snooker club in Paignton town center. The man was attacked by two teenagers outside of the establishment and if it were not for two passerbies, the man might be in worse condition. Two good Samaritans stopped to help the man from his attackers. (12/09)

Larry Nevel Wins North Carolina Billiards Event

Rocky Mount, North Carolina was the place to be if you wanted to see the Jacoby Custom Cues Carolina Tour take place. The event was held September 6th and 7th and had twenty six players in contention for first place. The event was a $1,000 added and took place at Sharks-N-Shooters. (10/09)

The game of Snooker is perceived by many people as a game for the “older” generation. Older people do like the game and are among the viewers but young people also enjoy the game. Arkansas Seniors Enjoy Mahjong

Mahjong is a game based on an ancient Chinese card game. It is a form of solitaire that is played using one hundred and fifty two tiles that are decorated with Chinese symbols such as: flowers, jokers, winds, cracks and dots. Mark Shelby, world number four in snooker, will be supporting a new snooker academy that will be run by Shelby’s former coach Alan Perkins. The new academy will be in Harborough at the Cannon Club. G-Cue Billiards in Round Rock, Texas was the place to be for this year’s Texas Open Billiards tournament. One hundred and twenty eight players came to compete in the $3,250 added event. Shane Van Boening would be the victor in this series after playing against Gabe Owen not once but twice before claiming the first place prize. (04/09)

O’Sullivan Wins Northern Ireland Trophy

Ronnie O’Sullivan pulled out the win against Dave Harold to take the title of Northern Ireland Trophy Champion. O’Sullivan was ranked 21st in his snooker career while Harold was ranked 28th. Both came to play their very best, but O’Sullivan really shined as he became the first player in four years to win back to back ranking titles. The event took place in Belfast at the Waterfront Hall. Niels Feijen Wins Predator World 4.1 Championship

Pool veteran Franciso Bustamante could not pull a win out of this tournament as Niels Feijen beat him 200-11 this past Saturday. Feijen was the favorite according to the stats and took an early lead against Bustamante with a 40 ball advantage. Bustamante missed his first open shot and with that Feijen took the lead 80-0.
